Nestled on the Kenai Peninsula, Homer is known as the "Halibut Fishing Capital of the World" and offers a plethora of activities and sights for every traveler.

Begin your Homer odyssey by venturing into Kachemak Bay State Park. Accessible only by boat or plane, this park is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Hiking trails wind through forests, along beaches, and up mountains, offering breathtaking views of glaciers, ocean, and wildlife. Kayaking in the peaceful waters may grant you encounters with sea otters, seals, and perhaps even whales.

No visit to Homer is complete without a drive down the 4.5-mile-long Homer Spit, one of the longest natural spits in the world. Park your camper van in one of the beachside campgrounds, and explore the Spit's eclectic mix of shops, eateries, and art galleries. Take your camper van adventure to the next level with a bear-viewing excursion. Several local operators offer day trips to nearby Katmai or Lake Clark National Parks, where you can safely observe brown bears in their natural habitat. These tours often involve a short bush plane flight—an adventure in itself—that provides stunning aerial views of the Alaskan wilderness.

For a unique dining experience, book a dinner at one of Halibut Cove's floating restaurants. This tiny community, accessible only by boat, features art galleries and eateries set against a stunning backdrop of mountains and sea. Enjoy fresh seafood as you watch eagles soar and sea otters play in the waters around you.

Sunsets from Skyline Drive are particularly spectacular and provide the perfect backdrop for an evening picnic.
