The best camper van rentals in Grand Canyon National Park, AZ

Whether you enter the Grand Canyon through the South Rim or North Rim in your camper van rental, it is simply astonishing. Walk to the edge of the rim and you can see straight down into the deep gorges that the mighty Colorado River has forged over millions of years.

The South Rim is the most popular area of the Grand Canyon and is approximately four and a half hours away from the North Rim, but the North Rim sees fewer visitors and is a better area to avoid the large crowds. The best campground in the South Rim is the Desert View Campground located 25 miles east of the Grand Canyon Village and is famous for its stunning sunsets.

At the other end of the park, the North Rim Campground offers an excellent location to camp and spend a night staring at the stars. Camping is also available at Phantom Ranch and at Bright Angel Campground but reservations must be made well in advance.

There are a number of fun activities at the park including biking, hiking and boating. You can rent bicycles from Bright Angel Bicycles in the South Rim and take a ride along Hermit Road for seven miles all along the South Rim to take in the amazing views. You can also head to Yaki Point and watch the amazing sunsets. For the ultimate hiking experiences, there is Thunder River Trail, which is a 21 mile hike and the canyon’s most astonishing backpacking trip.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most highly visited attractions in the US with over six million visitors annually.

President Teddy Roosevelt was instrumental in establishing the park as a natural game reserve and later as a National Monument.

The Grand Canyon is larger than the state of Rhode Island.
