Crater Lake National Park
Dates
Crater Lake is a breathtakingly beautiful place to visit in a camper van rental. The lake's stunning blue color comes from the snow and rain that falls into it, making it one of the clearest bodies of water in existence.
A visit to Crater Lake is an experience you won’t regret. Whether it be in the summer or winter, there are many activities and tours available for visitors of all ages. In addition to hiking trails around its rim, during the winter months, you can even take a ranger led snowshoe tour through Crater Lakes snowy landscape filled with jaw-dropping views. Camper van rentals are a popular way to explore the park. Activities include hiking trails along cliffs surrounding the lake as well as on Wizard Island. The island itself is a cinder cone rising over 500 feet above the surface of Crater Lake and has an elevation exceeding 2,000 feet.
It is the deepest lake in the US and the ninth deepest in the world, with a depth of 1,943 feet.
The lake was formed in the presence of Native Americans. Mount Mazama, a 12,000 foot volcano that was vital to the indigenous Malak Tribe, was destroyed by a catastrophic eruption more than 7,700 years ago.
Crater Lake one of the country’s snowiest spots.
