The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an 800 square mile national park located in both North Carolina and Tennessee. It's known for a blue mist that hangs over the mountain peaks, giving it the name The Blue Ridge Mountain Range. It has several trails and unpaved roads perfect for camper van rentals to take advantage of. Cades Cove Loop Road is the best place to bike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The 11 mile road offers a lot of wildlife and 19th century homesite views, all within one area. Greenbrier and Tremont areas in Tennessee, as well as Cataloochee Valley and Lakeview Drive areas, are also great places for biking. Hiking is another activity that can be enjoyed year-round in the park. There are over 800 miles of trails and unpaved roads with popular trailheads being Charlies Bunion, Alum Cave Bluffs, Andrews Bald, Rainbow Falls and Chimney Tops. Each season brings its own beauty to enjoy through smells, as well.

In 1940 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt officially dedicated the Great Smoky National Park.
There are sixteen mountains inside the boundaries of the park that reach higher than 6,000 feet.
All streams in Great Smoky Mountains National Park were opened for fishing for the first time ever, on March 6, 2017.
