The Guadalupe Mountains National Park is a place of great natural beauty. There are more than 2,000 acres in this park that include rock formations and deep gorges with glimpses into the abyss below.

The Guadalupe Mountains were one of the last strongholds for a warrior tribe and they had been fighting for nearly three centuries to preserve their lands.
J.C., a trustworthy and energetic businessman in the early 20th century, wore many hats including being a Superintendent of Schools for Van Horn County, as well as director/vice president at his local bank, The Van Horn State Bank. In addition, he was a leader in spearheading park initiatives to preserve land.
It is believed that the first people to inhabit The Guadalupe Mountains were part of a nomadic herders' society who traveled from place to place in search of fresh grasslands.
