If you’ve been wanting to rent a 2022 Storyteller Overland MODE (or even try one before you buy one), this is your chance! Free Bird is a Storyteller Overland Stealth MODE 4×4 ready for the windows down, air in your hair kind of freedom only the open road can offer. This is a true adventure van with everything you’ll need for a camping trip that dreams are made of. With its prowess for urban adventuring and endless off-grid exploring, the sky is the limit in this ultimate van life vehicle. Off on a winter adventure? Free Bird has a Geyser portable heated water system that will be just what you need to clean up AND take a hot shower after a day of cold weather exploration.

Free Bird seats four and can sleep up to three adults, or two adults and two small children. Need an additional sleep space? Add the Luno mattress to turn the front seats into a bed for a kid or a smaller adult. The Dreamweaver bed (56″ x 79″ max) has high density foam cushions for a peaceful slumber. The GrooveLounge two-seater (34″W X 72″L) converts into another sleeping space and is the perfect spot for one adult or two small kiddos to snooze. 

The front seats swivel to face the cabin so you can gather ’round with your crew for a morning cup of joe or swap stories as you wind down the day. With a refrigerator, cook top, microwave, and plenty of prep space, it’s easy to show off your camp-side culinary skills. There is also an exterior fold out table that lets you take the party outside and eat al fresco! And  speaking of getting outside, a Colorado State Park and National Park annual pass are included when you rent Free Bird.

The M-Power automotive grade lithium power system (powered by Volta) has enough energy to run the air conditioner, fridge, microwave, cooktop, exhaust fan, 110 outlets, and… well, everything! Cleaning up is a delight after a day of adventuring with the diesel-powered water heating system and the Halo shower system with inside and outside shower options. (*Please note: during the colder months this van is winterized and therefore only available for “dry” camping with no running water to the shower or sink.)

MILEAGE

125 miles per day are included with your rental. This van charges 50 cents per mile beyond this limit.

All vans are considered “road trip ready.” Whether you are flying in from out of town or looking to explore your own backyard, all you really need to do is stop for groceries before hitting the road. All cookware and tableware is included, as is bedding and a wide array of camping gear. Pick Up and Drop Off

Rentals are Calculated on a 24-hour Basis: The rental period is generally considered to be 24 hours. If you pick up the van at 10 am, you’ll be expected to return it around 10 am. Most van owners can accommodate requests for a few extra hours at $20/hour. Alternatively, if you want to pick up in the morning and drop off in the evening, simply select the optional half day add-on when completing your reservation.

Pick Up and Drop Off Time: There is no set pick up and drop off time. You’ll make arrangements suited to your needs and schedule with the van’s owner. You can indicate your preferred pick up and drop off time when completing your reservation; final arrangements will be confirmed with the van’s owner.

Insurance

Insurance coverage includes $1 million in liability to the renter, $1 million in liability to the van owner, and comp and collision coverage up to $200,000. Insurance coverage starts at $49.50 per night. Prices may vary by vehicle and location.

Roadside Assistance

We make 24-hour roadside assistance available for $15 a day. Coverage includes: towing, flat tire assistance, emergency fluids delivery, battery boost, and a mobile mechanic. Many van owners require 24-hour roadside assistance as part of the rental. Where coverage is mandatory, you must either purchase our policy, or show proof of comparable coverage, including 1) RV towing and 2) towing distance of 100+ miles.

Mileage

125 miles per night is included in every rental. Additional miles are charged 35 cents - $1 per mile depending on the vehicle. For example, on a four-night rental, you will have 500 free miles. If you traveled 600 miles, at 35 cents a mile you would pay an additional $35 at the end of your trip.

Security Deposit

We'll place an authority to charge $1,000 - $1500 (vehicle dependent) on your card two days before your rental starts. The authority to charge is released, less any additional fees, usually no more than seven days after you return.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Standard cancellation policy: You can reschedule your trip one time in the same van with no penalty up to 48 hours prior to the rental. Requests to reschedule a trip a second time will incur a 5% rescheduling fee. You can cancel your reservation for a full refund, less a 5% service fee, up to 14 days prior to the rental. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the rental, you will receive a refund for 50% of the rental fee. Cancellations must be made in writing. We are unable to offer refunds for shortened trips if for some reason (e.g. weather, change in schedule) you return the vehicle early. If we cancel the reservation you will receive a full refund.

    One-way trip cancellation policy: One-way trips cannot be rescheduled. You can cancel your reservation for a full refund, less a 5% service fee, up to 30 days prior to the rental. If you cancel 15 – 29 days prior to the rental, you will forfeit 100% of the one-way fee and receive a full refund on the remaining reservation line items, less a 5% service fee. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the rental, you will forfeit 100% of the one-way fee and receive a refund for 50% of the remaining rental fees. Cancellations must be made in writing.
