Hella embodies the urban slang of “hella” which is to amplify your adventures and give you more of the good life.  Hella is a 1991 vintage VW Vanagon GL tintop, with mechanical upgrades to give you peace of mind. Hella lets the whole gang get away from it all, while taking basic comforts of home with you.  Connect your favorite tunes using the new radio with Bluetooth connect and turn any adventure into a memorable road trip. Keep the good time rolling and your devices charged using outlets throughout the van.

This compact camper features day mode and sleep mode.  In day mode, convert the bed into a lounge-worthy bench and access the galley kitchen table. Kitchen features a portable propane camp stove and sink with running water. Keep all your essentials cool using the refrigerator. In sleep mode, Hella sleeps two inside the van in hella comfort (c’mon we had to do it!). The rear bench folds down to an almost queen-sized bed.  Dial-up the ambiance with the newly installed LED dimmable lights.  If you’re bringing along extra folks, pack a tent or add on a the two-person tent.

Heading off-grid?  Hella has newly installed roof-top solar panels to keep the auxiliary battery full which means the refrigerator will stay running keeping your beverages the perfect temperature.  Think you’ll be off-grid longer needing more power?  Add on the suitcase solar panels!

Note: Hella is going to have picture day real soon.  In the meantime, we’ll have to use our words to describe this beauty.  The roof rack has been removed to make room for the awning.  Instead, there is a hitch mounted auxiliary carrier to haul an extra cooler or gear.

Hop in and Go

All vans are considered “road trip ready.” Whether you are flying in from out of town or looking to explore your own backyard, all you really need to do is stop for groceries before hitting the road. All cookware and tableware is included, as is bedding and a wide array of camping gear. Pick Up and Drop Off

Rentals are Calculated on a 24-hour Basis: The rental period is generally considered to be 24 hours. If you pick up the van at 10 am, you’ll be expected to return it around 10 am. Most van owners can accommodate requests for a few extra hours at $20/hour. Alternatively, if you want to pick up in the morning and drop off in the evening, simply select the optional half day add-on when completing your reservation.

Pick Up and Drop Off Time: There is no set pick up and drop off time. You’ll make arrangements suited to your needs and schedule with the van’s owner. You can indicate your preferred pick up and drop off time when completing your reservation; final arrangements will be confirmed with the van’s owner.

Location

Insurance

Insurance coverage includes $1 million in liability to the renter, $1 million in liability to the van owner, and comp and collision coverage up to $200,000. Insurance coverage starts at $49.50 per night. Prices may vary by vehicle and location.

Roadside Assistance

We make 24-hour roadside assistance available for $15 a day. Coverage includes: towing, flat tire assistance, emergency fluids delivery, battery boost, and a mobile mechanic. Many van owners require 24-hour roadside assistance as part of the rental. Where coverage is mandatory, you must either purchase our policy, or show proof of comparable coverage, including 1) RV towing and 2) towing distance of 100+ miles.

Mileage

125 miles per night is included in every rental. Additional miles are charged 35 cents - $1 per mile depending on the vehicle. For example, on a four-night rental, you will have 500 free miles. If you traveled 600 miles, at 35 cents a mile you would pay an additional $35 at the end of your trip.

Security Deposit

We'll place an authority to charge $1,000 - $1500 (vehicle dependent) on your card two days before your rental starts. The authority to charge is released, less any additional fees, usually no more than seven days after you return.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Standard cancellation policy: You can reschedule your trip one time in the same van with no penalty up to 48 hours prior to the rental. Requests to reschedule a trip a second time will incur a 5% rescheduling fee. You can cancel your reservation for a full refund, less a 5% service fee, up to 14 days prior to the rental. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the rental, you will receive a refund for 50% of the rental fee. Cancellations must be made in writing. We are unable to offer refunds for shortened trips if for some reason (e.g. weather, change in schedule) you return the vehicle early. If we cancel the reservation you will receive a full refund.

    One-way trip cancellation policy: One-way trips cannot be rescheduled. You can cancel your reservation for a full refund, less a 5% service fee, up to 30 days prior to the rental. If you cancel 15 – 29 days prior to the rental, you will forfeit 100% of the one-way fee and receive a full refund on the remaining reservation line items, less a 5% service fee. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to the rental, you will forfeit 100% of the one-way fee and receive a refund for 50% of the remaining rental fees. Cancellations must be made in writing.
